Why live PV, home consumption, grid draw and wallbox data are especially useful on a wall display.
Anyone using a PV system, home battery or wallbox knows the problem: the data exists, but it is often hidden across several apps. Fronius has its own app, the wallbox has another and for Tibber electricity prices you need yet a third one. In everyday life, a quick glance at production, consumption and grid draw would be far more helpful than opening three different apps.
A wall-mounted energy dashboard makes these values visible without anyone actively checking. You can immediately see whether solar power is being generated, whether the home battery is charging or discharging, whether grid power is being drawn or whether the electric car is connected to the wallbox. That helps run appliances like washing machines, dryers or dishwashers when enough solar power is available.
For PV system owners, self-consumption is one of the most important factors for profitability. Every kilowatt-hour consumed instead of fed into the grid saves real money, because the electricity price is significantly higher than the feed-in tariff. A visible dashboard motivates the whole family to use their own electricity more effectively.
VistaBoard supports Fronius inverters and can display PV generation, home consumption, grid draw, feed-in and home battery charge level. Data is read directly from the local network without any cloud connection. That makes the display fast and reliable.
Wallbox status can also be shown on the display. This is especially useful when the car is charging in the garage and you want to know from inside the house how far along the charging process is. Instead of walking to the garage or opening an app, a glance at the wall display is enough.
For households with flexible electricity tariffs like Tibber, VistaBoard shows current and upcoming hourly electricity prices. You can see at a glance when power is cheap and when it makes sense to run larger appliances. Fixed tariffs can also be configured to keep track of costs.
The key advantage over dedicated energy monitoring solutions: VistaBoard combines energy data with calendars, weather and photos on a single display. That makes the dashboard useful not just for the technically interested PV owner but for the whole family. There is no need for a separate display just for energy data.
The display is deliberately kept simple. Large numbers show current values, colored indicators make the energy flow recognizable at first glance. Green means solar power, red means grid draw. Even without technical knowledge, anyone can immediately see what is happening.
A typical day with VistaBoard and PV: in the morning, the display shows the weather forecast and expected sunshine. At midday, you see live that the system is producing 6 kW and the home battery is charging. In the afternoon, you start the washing machine because enough solar power is still available. In the evening, the display shows the battery is full and the Tibber price for the night is low.
For setup, simply enter the IP address of the Fronius inverter during VistaBoard onboarding. Data is then fetched automatically and shown on the display. Wallbox and electricity prices can be added optionally. The entire configuration takes just a few minutes.
A simple wall display becomes a practical everyday energy monitor that the whole family can use and that helps make better use of your own solar power.
